BlacksheepOffroad provides professional 4x4 driving instruction and training. Regular group courses are conducted from our Georgetown CA location, and fully outfitted multi-day trips are scheduled seasonally on California's famous Rubicon Trail.

Regular group classes are scheduled throughout the fall, winter, and spring months, October through April. Courses fill up fast, so book ahead! Class size is kept small for maximum effectiveness.

Private courses are available by appointment, year-round, 7-days a week, so that your course is tailored to your specific vehicle, skill level and interest.

Driving in from the East

  • Take HWY 50 West from Lake Tahoe
  • In Placerville (37 miles from SAC) go north on HWY 49
  • Go 1/2 mile and turn right onto HWY 193 (12 miles to Georgetown)

Driving in from the West

  • Take HWY 50 East from Sacramento
  • In Placerville (37 miles from SAC) go north on HWY 49
  • Go 1/2 mile and turn right onto HWY 193 (12 miles to Georgetown)

Georgetown, CA is a small community with limited amenities. Nearby Coloma, Auburn and Placerville have numerous activities, historical parks and tourism opportunities. BlackSheepOffroad generally arranges guest lodging at a convenient location, cozy and comfortable hotel located in downtown Georgetown.

Flying into Sacramento

The closest airport to Georgetown is Sacramento International. Several major carriers fly into Sacramento and rental cars are available with reservation. Drive time from Sacramento to Georgetown is usually a little over an hour. Airport pick-up and drop-off is available to our guests at an additional charge with advance reservation.
